This isn’t just fiction; it’s a reflection of reality, transformed into an unforgettable narrative.

After years of dedication and hard work, Ray has poured his heart and soul into this project, crafting a story that promises to captivate readers and leave them craving more. Scheduled for publication within the next three months, Neon Lights: Murder, Money, and Mystery in Vegas is now available for advanced orders—an opportunity to be among the first to experience this thrilling journey. With aspirations to bring this book to life on the big screen or as a Netflix series, Ray is actively seeking representation from literary agents who share his vision for both the written word and its cinematic potential.

Ray Lanfear, a man whose life has been marked by love, resilience, and an enduring spirit of reinvention, is the author behind a gripping crime thriller inspired by true events. Born in San Francisco in 1943, and raised by a single Mom. Ray spent his formative years in Santa Cruz, California, where he developed a deep appreciation for hard work, family, and storytelling—qualities that have defined his remarkable journey through life.

Ray’s academic pursuits took him to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he honed his intellectual abilities and met the love of his life, Judy. Their connection was immediate and profound, blossoming into a romance that would span nearly six decades. While at Cal Poly, Ray balanced his studies with part-time jobs, demonstrating the same determination and discipline that would later define his career.

A proud graduate of law school, Ray earned his Juris Doctorate from Citrus Belt Law School in Riverside, California by taking advantage of the GI bill, attending classes at night while managing the demands of work and family during the day. His unwavering commitment to education reflected his lifelong passion for growth and personal development. After graduating from Law School, Ray worked as a law clerk for the City Attorney of San Bernardino and for several years at the law firm of Vinnedge, Lance, and Glenn in Ontario, California. Despite earning his law degree, Ray ultimately found his calling in retail management, where he built a distinguished career working for some of the most well-known companies in the industry, including Thrifty Drug and Discount Stores, K-Mart, Fed Mart, Gemco, Albertsons, Chiefs Automotive, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Costco. His leadership skills and dedication to excellence made him a respected figure in the corporate world, yet it was his warmth and generosity that truly set him apart.

During their married life, Ray and Judy lived across several states, embracing new opportunities and adventures. They called California, Colorado, and Las Vegas home at different points in their lives. In Colorado, Ray managed stores for both Lowe’s and Home Depot, and retired from Costco, honing his expertise in management, operations, and customer service. Beyond traditional retail roles, Ray ventured into entrepreneurship, launching a small internet marketing business that expanded his horizons far beyond U.S. borders. This venture took him all over the world, where he connected with entrepreneurs and professionals from all over the globe. One of the highlights of this period was organizing and hosting "Millionaire Conferences" in Panama and at exotic locations worldwide. These conferences brought together individuals seeking wealth-building strategies and personal development, featuring some of the best motivational speakers in the world. Attendees were immersed in programs designed to inspire growth, success, and self-improvement. The conferences not only showcased Ray’s entrepreneurial acumen but also reflected his passion for helping others achieve their dreams.

In December 2007, Ray and Judy made a pivotal move to Las Vegas during a rare snowstorm from Colorado. Their retirement home on a golf course at Stallion Mountain became more than just a residence—it was a sanctuary where they embraced the vibrant energy of Las Vegas while enjoying the tranquility of their community. Over the years, this home bore witness to countless memories, from lively gatherings with friends to quiet evenings spent reflecting on life’s twists and turns. It was here that Ray forged his close friendship with Charlie and Linda Gambino (a pseudonym used to protect identities), a relationship that would later inspire him to write his debut novel.

After 59 unforgettable years of marriage, Judy passed away due to complications from dementia, due to a fall, leaving a profound void in Ray’s life. Rather than succumbing to loneliness, Ray chose to embrace new beginnings. On Valentine’s Day in 2023, he married Christina, a woman who brought light and joy back into his world. Together, they welcomed their first child, Sophia Rose Lanfear, just twelve months ago—a testament to the beauty of second chances and the timeless nature of love.

In August 2023, Ray made the bittersweet decision to sell the Stallion Mountain home, bringing an end to an era but paving the way for a fresh start. Alongside Christina and Sophia Rose, he relocated to a luxury apartment in the heart of Las Vegas. This move symbolized not only a physical return to the city but also a full-circle moment—a celebration of resilience, love, and renewal. Surrounded by family and the familiar glow of the Strip, Ray now embraces this new phase of life, carrying forward the lessons learned and the stories lived, including those that inspired his writing journey.

Beyond his accomplishments as an author and businessman, Ray is a devoted family man. He is the proud father of four children, grandfather to seven grandchildren, and great-grandfather to an 18-year-old great-granddaughter, whose presence adds another layer of joy and pride to his life. With Sophia Rose now part of the family, Ray’s days are enriched by the laughter and innocence only a baby can bring.

Now retired and residing in Las Vegas, Ray embarked on a new chapter as a writer. Drawing from his firsthand experiences and meticulous attention to detail, he penned a crime thriller novel based on the intricate dynamics between Charlie and Linda, and those around them. Writing this book was no small feat, especially given its sensitive subject matter, but Ray persevered, driven by a passion for truth and storytelling. Christina played an instrumental role in helping him bring the project to fruition, offering encouragement, editorial insights, web and book design and unwavering belief in his abilities.

Ray Lanfear’s debut novel stands as a testament to his courage and creativity—a compelling narrative born from real-life struggles and triumphs. Through his writing, Ray invites readers to explore the darker corners of human nature while celebrating the resilience of the human spirit. As he continues to enjoy his golden years surrounded by loved ones, Ray remains a shining example of how embracing change and pursuing passions can lead to a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Neon Lights reflects Ray’s unique perspective, blending his real-life adventures with his creative imagination. It’s a story born out of grit, resilience, and the vibrant energy of Las Vegas—a testament to the power of storytelling rooted in truth.
